96 comedians from around the world are pinning their hopes on Boston this November as they prepare for the 14th Annual Boston Comedy Festival. Finalists from the comedy competition will go head-to-head in front of industry judges for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that could launch their careers. The Boston Comedy Festival will also feature headliners like, Marc Maron, Kevin Meaney, Steve Sweeney, Judah Friedlander, Tony V, Lenny Clarke and Andy Kindler just to name a few. The Boston Comedy Festival will also feature Boston ’s hottest new Improv group Comedy Sportz Boston who will defend Boston against Improv groups from around the nation. The Boston Comedy Festival will culminate with The Boston Comedy Festival Final on Saturday Nov 16 at 8pm at the historic Somerville Theatre. Comedian Jim McCue will host, as the great eight finalists will compete for the $10,000 first prize check and a chance to launch their career. The finale will also feature an appearance by comedian Marc Maron who will be receiving this year’s Comedian of the Year Award. Marc is best known for his WTF pod cast and his sitcom on IFC Maron as well as showcases on Conan, Comedy Central and Netflix. The Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to Emmanuel Lewis who will receive his award for his iconic role on the hit sitcom Webster.

About The Finals: The excitement builds to a comedic crescendo as one extra talented comedian is awarded $10,000 and the opportunity to launch a career. "The cream rises to the top," adds Festival founder Jim McCue -- on the stellar lineup that makes up the Final show. The eight comedians that have made it through the preliminaries and the semi-finals will perform. Celebrity judges (historically, a panel of agents, managers, and network executives, many from NY and LA) that night will choose this year's Boston Comedy Festival winner and are also in town to scout talent. Numerous comedians have appeared on late night television and Comedy Central and received significant comedy career boosts such as opportunities for management and agent representation, as a result of the festival. Boston comedians who are rarely back in the city where they first cut their comedy teeth will also return -- including Kevin Meaney and Marc Maron.

- Jim McCue will be featured on the "Morning Buzz" - a nationwide TV comedy show -- Nov. 9 @ 8pm and 10pm during the Judah Friedlander show, he will do a special Boston "shout-out" to get the show rolling.
- Daughter of Tommy Chong, "Precious Chong," is among the comedians who are competing in the competition portion of the festival.
The 96 comedians in the competition bring a variety of experience -- some are fresh new talent, others have headlined shows and appeared on television, radio, and toured, including performing for the military. They were selected out of hundreds of international submissions.

This year’s festival kicks off at the Davis Square theatre at 7pm with Steve Sweeney. Steve is known as the "undisputed King of Boston comedy“, Sweeney will host show, which will include both music and comedy and Soprano's alum Frank Santorelli.

Darryl Lennox (Nicks Comedy Stop)
2012 was a big year for Boston Comedy Festival alumni and comedian Darryl Lenox. Stage time Magazine named his CD Blind Ambition “one of the Top 5 Comedy Albums of 2012. Along with the album release on Stand Up! Records, 2012 also saw the release of his hour-long standup special of the same name on Starz. This marked the first feature comedy special to appear on the network.
Kevin Meaney (Davis Square Theatre)
Kevin Meaney is no stranger to the Boston Comedy scene, and this is a rare opportunity to see him in the intimate Davis Square Theater. Since his first HBO special, Kevin has enjoyed an incredible career including legendary performances on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson, and appearances on Late Night with Conan O’Brien, Saturday Night Live, Oprah, and many more.

Andy Kindler was a series judge on the seventh season of NBC’s Last Comic Standing. He is the star of two half-hour Comedy Central Presents specials and is a frequent guest and correspondent on The Late Show with David Letterman. Andy recurred on Everybody Loves Raymond, Comedy Central’s The Root of All Evil and Fox’s Bob’s Burgers, and he has appeared on the HBO Young Comedians Special, Late Night with Conan O’Brian and The Daily Show.
Andy delivers the State of the Industry Address each year at the Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal.
