Novant Health Vein Specialists Launches Campaign on Congenital Vein Abnormalities
Winston-Salem, NC (PRWEB) November 03, 2013 -- Novant Health Vein Specialists is launching a new campaign to help educate the public about congenital vein abnormalities. Although these abnormalities affect only about 1% of the population, they can have an impact on a person’s health, the Winston-Salem, N.C. based vein clinic says. The center hopes to raise awareness about these vein conditions.
Dr. Ray Workman, a leading vein doctor at Novant Health Vein Specialists, explains that congenital vein abnormalities refer to malformations in the veins that occur from birth. “The most common of these abnormalities include thin-walled ‘lakes’ in which blood can collect and areas where major veins are narrowed or completely absent.”
Anyone who suffers from congenital vein abnormalities is encouraged to stay in contact with a vein doctor to monitor the issue. While many of these malformations are not considered a medical emergency, some can raise a person’s risk for blood clots like deep vein thrombosis.
Novant Health Vein Specialists is raising awareness about congenital vein abnormalities through social media. The center will be utilizing Facebook and Twitter to spread the word about this condition throughout the month of October.

Varicose Vein Treatment Options
Varicose veins and spider veins are extremely common in men and women. While spider veins are very small, reddish veins on the surface of the skin, varicose veins are much larger, bulging, tangled veins that may appear bluish in color. Men and women suffer from varicose veins, although women are much more likely to have them. Today, patients have access to a number of effective varicose vein treatment options. Advancements in technology and medicine have led to the development of effective, minimally invasive treatments that produce optimal results with few side effects or downtime. These treatments include sclerotherapy, radio frequency ablation, phlebectomy, and endovenous laser ablation.
