BostonGlobe.com and Boston.com Awarded Five EPPY Awards by Editor & Publisher Magazine
Boston, Massachusetts (PRWEB) November 01, 2013 -- Boston.com and BostonGlobe.com have won five 2013 EPPY Awards: Best Daily Newspaper Website, Best News or Event Feature on a Website, Best Crowd Sourcing/Citizen Journalism, Best News Video, and Best Business Blog.
The prestigious EPPY Awards – now in their 18th year – honor the best media websites around the world. Winning websites are chosen by Editor & Publisher magazine and a panel of 68 judges.
BostonGlobe.com won Best Daily Newspaper Website with 1 million monthly visitors, and Best News Video with 1 million unique monthly visitors and over for "The Bone Collector" video, which chronicled the story behind a mysterious package containing skeletal remains.
Boston.com won Best Crowd Sourcing/Citizen Journalism with 1 million unique monthly visitors and over for its Boston Marathon bombings coverage; both BostonGlobe.com and Boston.com were also honored for their extensive and compelling coverage of the bombings with the award for Best News or Event Feature on a website with 1 million unique monthly visitors. Finally, Scott Kirsner's Innovation Economy blog on Boston.com was crowned Best Business Blog.

These awards come on the heels of multiple honors at the Online News Association Awards on Oct. 18. BostonGlobe.com and Boston.com won the 2013 award for breaking news for coverage of the Marathon bombings and their aftermath. BostonGlobe.com also won the Knight Award for Public Service for the interactive series on a year in Boston’s Bowdoin-Geneva neighborhood, “68 Blocks: Life, Death, Hope.”
