LSU Meets Alabama Yet Again; Ticket Monster Has Rivalry Tickets Available for Purchase
(PRWEB) November 04, 2013 -- November 9th, 7p.m. Mark your calendars college football fans, the LSU Alabama rivalry returns to the field next weekend for one of the most highly anticipated matchups of the year. The game between the currently ranked number one and number eleven team will come shortly after another SEC contest between Mississippi State and Texas A&M, which will begin at 2:30p.m.
The LSU Alabama rivalry has been around for ages, but started to really heat up again in 2007 when Nick Saban decided to leave the NFL to wake the sleeping Alabama, and it hasn’t slowed down since. Alabama leads the competition with a whopping 45 wins, while LSU only has 25.
Although the wide contrast in victories, the Tigers and Tide provide one of the most exciting games to watch, in all sports. Being at this game live is an opportunity one would never forget.
Coaches Nick Saban and Les Miles have won four of the past six SEC titles and four of the last six BCS national championships, making themselves out to be the latest sports dynasty. Not only do these two teams constantly win championships, but they therefore produce the most NFL players. Actually, LSU has the second most amount of former players on 2013 NFL rosters with 39. Alabama comes in ranked at 7th with 30 former players.
In all of these meeting between the two, the scores have generally been close, usually within a five-point margin. Except for the one blowout in 2012, when Alabama dominated LSU in the BCS national championship. The Tide defeated the Tigers in an astonishing 21-0. Earlier that season in the “Game of the Century”, LSU beat Alabama in a very low scoring, high defense game of 9-6.
Both quarterbacks Zach Mettenberger of Louisiana and AJ McCarron of Alabama have been superb in 2013. The Tigers do have two losses this season in the SEC, against Georgia and Ole Miss. If they were playing in any other conference they would undoubtedly have zero. Although both quarterbacks are an essential part of these top teams, neither are expected to win the Heisman Trophy. McCarron is currently sixth on the Hesiman watch list, but unless the top candidates fall he will most likely stay at six. Ironically, McCarron has never won the Heisman trophy. He has brought his team to win two of the last three National Championships, and has only two losses in his career so far. However, this is what makes Alabama the best. The team is complete and deep on the roster, and does not rely just on their quarterback to win games. If there is any team that is going to have a chance to say otherwise this season, it is LSU, and it is next Saturday.
