Lake Trust Credit Union Lake-to-Lake Food Drive Wins Michigan’s Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Award of CUNA
Brighton, MI (PRWEB) November 04, 2013 -- Lake Trust Credit Union has recently accepted CUNA’s Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility award in Michigan for its Lake-to-Lake Food Drive. The award is given annually by CUNA’s National Awards Committee. The Food Drive is part of the Lake Trust Credit Union Foundation.
Amongst other considerations, Lake Trust has been chosen based on the goals of the Food Drive; how the cause shows social concern for the community, demonstrates extraordinary effort and devotion of time from the Credit Union, and the results received.
"Receiving the Dora Maxwell Award means so much to us, it means we’re making a difference in our community,” said Lake Trust Credit Union Director of Corporate responsibility, Keith Koppmeier. “And our responsibility to our communities and creating a better life for those in it, is what drives us; it’s what we’re here for.”
Last year, with the help of local partners, and credit union members, the Food Drive was able to bring in 21,000 pounds of food to feed 25,000 Michigan families in Michigan.
“I’m really proud of Team Lake Trust,” said Lake Trust Credit Union President and CEO, David Snodgrass. “We’ve put a lot of time into volunteering, so to receive this award, when we’re gearing up for our 2013 Food Drive efforts makes it especially meaningful.”

Next year, the Lake-to-Lake Food Drive will move on to be considered for the Dora Maxwell award at the national level.
