COMLINK Ramps Up Detroit Business Development, Appoints Industry Veteran To Head Regional Effort
East Lansing, MI (PRWEB) November 04, 2013 -- Network, voice, and cloud services provider COMLINK announced today that it is expanding its focus on the Greater Detroit area with a new regional sales and channel operations division. The company has appointed Tom Abraham—who most recently headed Comcast’s enterprise services organization in Michigan and Indiana—to oversee the effort.
“The Greater Detroit region is a extremely valuable marketplace for COMLINK, and we wanted an industry veteran who knows the landscape and the players to help lead our expansion in the area,” said John Summersett, Chief Operating Officer of COMLINK. “Tom has a track record of successfully leading sales organizations in the region, and we are thrilled he will now represent COMLINK in this important sector.”
COMLINK also has been aggressively pursuing opportunities to bolster its network presence throughout the Detroit region. Most recently, the company partnered with the city of Royal Oak to build a new, state-of-the-art fiber optic network, providing municipal buildings, schools and businesses with access to high-speed broadband connectivity. In September, COMLINK acquired the fiber network assets of Michigan Lightwave, which provided fiber and telecommunications service throughout Macomb County. COMLINK now has more than 800 miles of fiber serving business customers in the Greater Detroit region, and more than 5,500 network fiber miles throughout Michigan and the Midwest.
Abraham has more than 30 years of telecommunications sales experience. At Comcast, Tom was responsible for overseeing deployment of a broad range of data services to businesses with large bandwidth applications and demands. Prior to that, Abraham held sales and marketing positions at Wiltec Technologies, Sprint, Siemens, MCI and Telegration.
“There is a tremendous opportunity for COMLINK to provide solutions to broadband-hungry businesses and municipalities in the Detroit area with real alternatives to traditional Telecom and cable offerings,” Abraham said. “Detroit is a passion of mine, and with its expansive fiber network and state-of-the-art datacenter assets, COMLINK is very well-positioned to be the leader.”
As part of its ongoing commitment to serving the Detroit region, COMLINK is also sponsoring and participating in the TAM: Great Lakes Technology Showcase, which takes place Nov. 4-6 at the Detroit Marriott Renaissance Center. Erin Bruder, who heads COMLINK’s Medisphere healthcare division, will lead a breakout session on Tuesday, Nov. 4 at 10 a.m. & 11 a.m. titled “Healthcare Connect Fund and Medical Tech Opportunities.”
