Dr. Gunjeet Kala Ahluwalia (Dr. Kala) Joins North Orange County Pediatrics
Placentia, CA (PRWEB) November 04, 2013 -- North Orange County Pediatrics (NOCP), having served the communities of Placentia, Yorba Linda, Brea and Fullerton, California since 1967, proudly announces that Dr. Gunjeet Kala Ahluwalia a.k.a. “Dr. Kala” has joined the practice on a full-time basis.
Prior to NOCP, Dr. Kala Ahluwalia served as Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Kansas Medical Center (KUMC), where she was Division Chief for Pediatric Nephrology, the branch of medicine that deals with kidney disease in children. As a Pediatric Residency Core Lecturer, she routinely addressed medical students on subjects such as Acute Kidney Injury and Pediatric Hypertension. Furthermore, she led a familial comparative study on Obesity, Blood Pressure and Microalbuminuria, an established risk marker for the presence of cardiovascular and kidney disease.
When it comes to practicing pediatrics, Dr. Kala Ahluwalia has a personal approach. “As a child, I always looked forward to my (doctor) visits and remember each staff member to this day,” recalls Dr. Kala Ahluwalia. “That’s one of the reasons I chose this profession. I grew up viewing my doctor as part of my family, and that’s how I want my patients to view me."
“After training in a variety of settings and countries, and having spent years in academics and University practice, I have learned what I can offer my community as a Pediatrician -- a healthy foundation for children and their families,” says Dr. Kala Ahluwalia. “I understand the importance of making the best decisions for our children’s health, not only as a physician, but as a mother as well. I want to not only help maintain the health of children in my community but encourage them to build on healthy habits that will stay with them for years to come.”
Dr. Kala Ahluwalia is Board Certified in Pediatrics and is currently a Member of the International Pediatric Nephrology Association, American Society of Nephrology, the American Society of Pediatric Nephrology, and the WIMS Society (Women in Medicine and Science Society).
She joins Dr. Charles Bacha, Dr. Dan Chiles, Dr. Nancy Chung and Dr. Jeff Gill at the practice.
