Clued in Kids Launches - Treasure Hunt Software and Products Introduce a New Way to Teach, Inspiring Kids to Learn, Laugh and Stay Active
Raleigh, NC (PRWEB) November 13, 2013 -- Clued In Kids launches today, an innovative developer of treasure/scavenger hunt technology and products that give parents and educators new tools to teach while keeping kids healthy and moving.
Childhood obesity is now the No. 1 health concern among parents, topping drug abuse and smoking. Excessive electronic media use by children contributes to obesity, according to recently published guidelines by the influential American Academy of Pediatricians.
“Never before has it been more important to find *healthy* ways for kids to learn and have fun,” says Clued In Kids founder, Helen Whiteley Bertelli, a North Carolina mom who grew up in England and enjoyed treasure hunting as a child.
“Until now, treasure hunting has been primarily a party game. But we have found that it is also a powerful tool to teach virtually anything to virtually anyone,” continued Bertelli. “Our goal at Clued In Kids is to make treasure hunts a part of living and learning in homes and classrooms across the country.”
The basic elements that make movie and video game blockbusters so popular - challenge, reward, collaboration, adventure - are also inherent in treasure hunts, making them the perfect tool to captivate and motivate children to learn while also keeping them moving.
It takes about 8 minutes for a parent, teacher or older kid to set up a Clued In Kids treasure hunt by hiding a series of pre-made clues around a home, classroom, park, library, etc. Each clue contains an activity or academic challenge (math, social studies, etc.) that, when solved, reveals the location of the next clue, and the next, until hidden treasure is found at the end. In this way, one child, or a group of up to a dozen, spends 1-2 hours treasure hunting, learning and having fun.
Founded in 2012 by Bertelli, Clued In Kids is steered by an advisory team of seasoned teachers, business and marketing executives as well as a talented creative team of designers, software engineers, animators and a well-known children’s book illustrator. The company’s products are enjoyed by kids, teachers, homeschoolers, parents, and grandparents across the country.
