Prolific Contemporary Russian artist Boris Chetkov continues to raise eyebrows and interest leading up to the gala opening of Russian Art Week in London.
London, UK (PRWEB UK) 5 November 2013 -- Prolific Contemporary Russian artist Boris Chetkov continues to raise eyebrows and interest leading up to the gala opening of Russian Art Week in London.
Boris Chetkov devoted a lifetime to his unique artistic vision, creating thousands of works across several mediums. Having a style unorthodox for his time and a reputation for allowing few to see his work, a new buzz is building that he may be the next Russian artist to watch going into auction at Christie’s.
A rebel to the repressive Soviet ideology and an outlier artistically, his work started gaining international recognition posthumously as more of his work was unveiled. With hundreds of pieces still remaining unseen, there are already four major books published on his life’s work, a large gallery in the heart of Santa Fe featuring his paintings and even a first of its kind mobile application for Android and iPhone. Further adding to the credibility of the buzz, the artist will be honored at the Gala opening for Russian Art Week at the Westbury Hotel Gallery in London in an exhibit entitled, “Re-imagining Russia: The Landscape and Genre painting of Boris Chetkov,” curated by renowned Russian art scholar Theodora Clarke.
The event is sponsored by Kenneth Pushkin, director of Pushkin galleries and owner of a considerable portion of Chetkov’s life works. On his passion for Chetkov’s work, Mr. Pushkin quotes, “I’m reticent to part with Boris Chetkov’s works, but it is important to share his work and his incredible life story with the world. Lately, the demand for Chetkov paintings has inspired me to organize this exhibit with the wonderful curation and scholarship of Theodora Clarke and her organization Russian Arts and Culture."
Pushkin Gallery manager Rosa Lena Robinson adds, “It is a delight to view this grouping of paintings as an exhibit. His emotions resonate in every painting. When viewed in context one gains a deeper insight into the enigma that is Boris Chetkov.”
Chetkov’s exhibition will kick-off with a private viewing at the Gala opening for Russia Art Week. Online, the work can be seen at the Pushkin Galleries website at http://pushkingallery.com, or through the free “Chetkov” mobile app available through the Google Play store for Android (iPhone app store on IOS). ‘Re-imagining Russia: The Landscape and Genre painting of Boris Chetkov’ will be on display at the Westbury Hotel Gallery in London November 22nd - 24th 2013.
