National Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners is Hiring a New Executive Director
Bismarck, North Dakota and Nationwide in the USA (PRWEB) November 06, 2013 -- The National Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners (NBVME ®) is conducting a national search to find a new Executive Director for the organization and has retained The VET Recruiter ®, a leading search firm for the Veterinary Industry to handle the search.
The Executive Director will serve as the administrative officer of the corporation and will make recommendations and participate in the formation of policies for the organization. This is a strategic role.
The Executive Director will oversee the daily operations of the organization and will work with the Secretary-Treasurer, the Finance Committee and the Board of Directors and will be responsible for the financial affairs of the organization including maintaining files and records, preparing budgets, managing bank accounts and investments, preparing and distributing the annual financial statement and audit and filing annual tax reports. The Executive Director will provide monthly reports including financial reports to the Executive Committee.
The Executive Director will lead the organization’s staff and is responsible for operating the office and answering correspondence and inquiries. The Executive Director will work with the legal counsel and is responsible for negotiating terms of contracts and agreements with vendors and leases for office space and equipment. The Executive Director is responsible for the oversight of preparation and distribution of publications, including newsletters, reports and information materials, and for maintaining and updating the organization’s web site. The Executive Director is responsible for managing the human resources of the organization including recruitment, hiring, supervision, compensation and performance reviews. The Executive Director will make sure that the office technology is sufficient to meet the needs of the corporation including computers, software, telecommunications equipment and other office equipment. The Executive Director will work closely with individuals and state veterinary licensing boards and will interact with organizations such as the American Association of Veterinary State Boards, the American Veterinary Medical Association, Veterinary Medical Colleges and other veterinary-related organizations.
The Executive Director will keep abreast of new developments in testing and will serve as a resource on new and better ways to assess competence in veterinary medicine. This will be done by attending meetings, interacting with colleagues and by reading books, periodicals and other materials. The incumbent will implement the organization’s strategic plan and will create and implement outreach efforts to facilitate a better understanding of the needs and desires of individual licensing boards and veterinary schools and will educate boards and schools on the examination development process and security efforts. The Executive Director will present to stakeholders and those with a vested interest in the veterinary licensure examination process. This position reports to the Board of Directors.
Qualifications include a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degree and excellent written and verbal communication skills. The successful candidate will be a visionary, strategic thinker and will have a pulse on where Veterinary Medicine is going. The Executive Director will need credibility with multiple stakeholders and will need to be honest and fiscally responsible. It is important that the successful candidate build consensus, be positive and cooperative and be effective in presenting to various groups of professionals. There is travel required with this position.
