Swords to Plowshares Celebrates 39 Years of Service to Veterans
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) November 04, 2013 -- On Thursday, November 7, 2013, Swords to Plowshares, San Francisco’s leading nonprofit veteran service organization, will host the 17th annual Veterans Day Dinner and Profiles of Courage Award Ceremony.
“As a Vietnam veteran myself, I can’t think of a better way to celebrate Veterans Day than honoring veterans who’ve turned their lives around,” said Michael Blecker, Executive Director of Swords to Plowshares. “We take great pride in showing the community the impact of our work and the veterans who overcome tremendous obstacles in their transition from combat to community. It’s truly a pleasure to honor veterans. Their stories, their lives inspires me.”
Nearly 500 community supporters will join together to pay tribute to Swords to Plowshares and the thousands of Bay Area veterans they have served. The Profiles of Courage awards will be given to veterans who have turned their lives around and shown tremendous courage in the face of adversity. Each story speaks to the full range of services Swords to Plowshares offers and illustrates the success of the organization’s nationally recognized programs.
