Snap Skout's New Content-Driven Digital Ad Product Brings Together Search Plus Display: Increasing Revenue for Publishers and Delighting Consumers
Seattle, WA (PRWEB) November 06, 2013 -- Snap Skout, a new content discovery and digital advertising tool that brings together relevant search results plus display, gives consumers instant access to relevant information and timely offers related to the products and services they are reading about. Snap Skout is the latest product to be released by Seattle-startup talktUp. Snap Skout has partnered with dozens of online publishers including: Crave Local, Seattleite, and Sip Northwest Magazine. Offering online readers a convenient place to receive relevant information, such as deals, business hours, location, reviews, and social, Snap Skout helps publishers increase reader engagement and revenue while offering advertisers an opportunity to extend reach in an elegant, non-intrusive format.
“With recent findings that 60 percent of people don’t find banner ads relevant--a term coined ‘banner blindness’--today’s online advertising model is in need of an overhaul,” states Snap Skout’s co-founder, Aaron Goodin. “We were inspired to create Snap Skout as a solution for the publishers that are struggling to increase engagement in the online world, the consumers who are tired of irrelevant promotions, and the advertisers who are looking for higher ROI from their ad spend. At the end of the day, we love the way Skout gives consumers helpful information on the page—right when and where they want it.”
Skout is shaking up the digital advertising landscape by serving ads “on demand” that combine the highest level of relevance with deep, search-like content that keeps consumers engaged longer with a website’s editorial content. Unlike the clutter of banner ads, pop-up windows or auto-play videos, the Skout button appears in the Share Bar (the same bar that contains social sharing icons for Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and more) only when there are relevant promotions and information connected to the content on the page.
For publishers, Skout provides a new online revenue stream. Publishers interested in joining the Skout publisher network can set up an account at http://www.snapskout.com to receive a unique install code that inserts the Skout button on their website. WordPress users can simply activate the Snap Skout Plug in from their admin page. Once installed, Skout instantly matches deals, promotions and deeper information such as location, reviews and social from advertising partners to the editorial content on their site. When a reader clicks through to an offer, the publisher gets paid. Skout also gives publishers access to a dashboard that tracks revenue and key metrics related to performance and reader interaction with the Skout button.
“We worked with Skout as part of the pilot program, and after seeing an increase in reader engagement, we became very excited at the potential of working with Skout long-term,” said Caroline Li, publisher of Seatteite.com and Skout launch partner. “I was impressed with the results from the pilot – the page views, impressions, and especially the click-through rate– and, while we will continue to leverage other forms of advertising to generate revenue, the opportunity to enhance the experience for our readers while earning additional revenue is win-win.”
During Skout’s beta testing, the Skout button’s click-through rate outperformed the site’s traditional banner ads by 10X. Skout is currently available regionally and nationally with plans to expand internationally.
