BRM Announces Abrasive Nylon Wheel Brushes for Deburring, Edge Blending, and Surface Finishing; Brush Tools Include NamPower Composite Hub Wheels for Edge Radiusing
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) November 05, 2013 -- Brush Research Manufacturing (BRM), maker of Flex-Hone® tools and wire wheels, is announcing nylon abrasive wheel brushes for burr removal, edge blending, and surface finish improvement. BRM brushing technology includes NamPower composite hub wheels for machine-based and off-hand deburring, edge radiusing, and surface conditioning. Applications include automotive, aerospace, and appliance parts.
In addition to NamPower nylon abrasive wheels with composite hubs, BRM offers radial wheel brushes for light deburring. The California company’s surface finishing solutions include wheel brushes with copper centers and mandrel-mounted brushing tools in standard and flared configurations. Standard specifications for abrasive nylon wheel brushes include diameter, trim length, abrasive type, and grit.
Wheel Brushes for Light Deburring
Nylon abrasive wheels for light deburring are an excellent alternative to steel filament brushes. Safe, non-reactive, and suitable for mounting on most pedestal grinders, these standard abrasive wheels are also used for edge blending, removing extrusion cut-off burrs, and general-purpose metal finishing. Typically, these BRM brushing tools use aluminum oxide (AO) or silicon carbide (SC) abrasive.
Aluminum oxide abrasives are recommended for parts made of brass, bronze, and softer metals. Silicon carbide abrasives are suitable for deburring, edge blending, and surface finishing mild steel, stainless steel, and cast iron. Grit selection in an important specification to consider. Grit options include 80, 120, 180, 320, and 500 AO and SC for nylon abrasive wheels.
NamPower Composite Hub Wheel Brushes
NamPower composite hub wheels are an alternative to both wire wheel brushes and non-woven abrasive brushes. Safe, dependable, and built with indestructible cores, NamPower wheel brushes feature a higher filament density and balanced construction for longer life and less filament breakage. Applications include machine-based and off-hand deburring, surface conditioning, and edge radiusing.
NamPower radial hub wheels are also used to surface finish metal shafts, turbine blades, steel gears, machined parts, and extrusion cut-offs. Specified by face width and standard in SC abrasive, NamPower brush products are idea for fine blanking, aluminum extrusions, appliance manufacturing, and surface finishing auto parts.
Copper Center and Mandrel-Mounted Wheel Brushes
BRM wheel brushes with copper centers come in a variety of arbor hole sizes and may be gang-mounted. Available in diameters from 1 to 4 inches, these copper center brush tools use 500 AO or 600 AO abrasive (depending on the wheel diameter). Designed for general-purpose surface finishing, nylon abrasive wheel brushes with copper centers are used also for light deburring and edge blending.
Mandrel-mounted nylon abrasive wheel brushes are an alternative to traditional steel filament brushes. Available in standard and flared styles, these BRM brushing tools come standard in 500-grit AO abrasive. Built with an integral 1/4-inch shank, mandrel-mounted wheel brushes are ideal for use in automated machinery and CNC equipment.
