FEI Behavioral Health to Present at Secured Cities and CPM West Conferences
Milwaukee, WI (PRWEB) November 05, 2013 -- FEI Behavioral Health, a national crisis management, EAP and wellness company based in Milwaukee, will be presenting sessions at two upcoming conferences—the 2013 Secured Cities Conference, and the combined 2013 GovSec West & CPM West Conference.
The 2013 Secured Cities Conference runs Nov. 14-15 in Baltimore, Md., while the 2013 GovSec West & CPM West Conference runs Nov. 18-20 in Grapevine, Texas. FEI Senior Director Terri Howard will present an informative workshop, “Helping the Helpers: A Guide to Strengthening Responder Resilience,” at both conferences: on Thursday, Nov.14, at 1:40 p.m. EST for Secured Cities and on Wednesday, Nov. 20 at 2:15 p.m. CST at the CPM West event.
The session will outline what organizations can do to support security and emergency personnel so they can better prepare, respond, and recover from a crisis. The session will review dynamics of self-care and resiliency training that focuses beyond psychological debriefings. After attending this session, participants will understand ‘compassion fatigue’ and the impact it has on security workers. Participants walk away with simple exercises that have been created for resiliency training, and also will learn how to facilitate/engage in them.
Howard is responsible for working with FEI corporate clients to ensure they are prepared for, can respond to and recover from a crisis incident. She also coordinates the people support and psychological first aid services for those impacted by crises, and she is responsible for developing drills and exercises aimed at testing current plans and procedures. Over the years, Howard has contributed to several international standards and guidelines on crisis management and workplace violence prevention, including ASIS, a global community of more than 38,000 security practitioners, and the FBI.
