CNT Supporting Research on the Health of Our Nation’s Forests

Cherokee Nation Technologies, a division of Cherokee Nation Businesses, was selected by the U.S. Department of Agriculture to support research on the health of our nation’s forests. CNT is providing technical support services to the Forest Health Technology Enterprise Team throughout the five-year agreement.

“Cherokee Nation and its entities have a long history of providing successful support to the Department of Agriculture,” said Bill John Baker, Principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation. “Additionally, as stewards of the environment, our people have always been conscious of nature’s pivotal role in our world. We look forward to supporting the USDA’s management of our nation’s natural resources.”

The $12 million contract begins with twelve initial task orders supporting geographic information systems, remote sensing, information technology, technical writing and graphic design. CNT is also assisting with the tracking and reporting of numerous forest health concerns, such as invasive species, pest management and wildfires.

“This contract further demonstrates the diverse application of our company’s capabilities,” said Steven Bilby, president of CNB’s diversified businesses. “We appreciate the opportunity to support new work as a reliable partner to the federal government and are dedicated to maintaining our reputation for excellence.”

The Forest Health Technology Enterprise Team was created in February 1995 to develop and deliver forest health technology services to field personnel in public and private organizations. Cherokee Nation Technologies was formed in 2009 to serve government clients with time-tested solutions that increase client effectiveness through the intelligent use of technology. CNT’s expertise includes software and application services, network services, and business process services. The company is headquartered in Tulsa, Okla., with a regional office in Ft. Collins, Colo., and client locations nationwide. Wholly owned by the Cherokee Nation, CNT is part of the Cherokee Nation Businesses family of companies.
