Events DC and the National Cherry Blossom Festival announced Events DC will present the 2014 National Cherry Blossom Festival Parade, continuing a longstanding partnership. With the support of Events DC, the Parade will be nationally syndicated, showcasing the brand of the National Cherry Blossom Festival and springtime in Washington, DC to thousands of viewers across the country in addition to thousands of spectators.
“The National Cherry Blossom Festival kicks off the tourist season each spring, and directly impacts the local economy through increased visitor spending and the high demand for hotel rooms, restaurants, and attractions,” said Events DC President and CEO Gregory A. O’Dell. “We are proud to continue supporting an event with such a powerful influence on the economy and community that showcases the best of our nation’s capital.”
Events DC is a leading sponsor of the 2014 National Cherry Blossom and provides overall support and strategic counsel. The Festival reflects the mission of Events DC by creating a premier experience for visitors that also benefits the city’s residents and businesses with increased tax revenue from over 1.5 million people during the nation’s greatest springtime celebration. Spanning three weeks and four weekends, the Festival promotes arts and cultural experiences, community spirit, and natural beauty in the environment. In 2014, the Festival takes an active, energetic approach to signature events with the central theme “Step Into Spring.” Next year is the 102nd anniversary of the gift of trees from Tokyo to Washington, DC.
The National Cherry Blossom Festival Parade presented by Events DC is on Saturday, April 12, 2014 from 10:00am until noon along Constitution Avenue, NW. It airs locally on WUSA 9.
