ATLANTA (PRWEB) November 05, 2013
Joe D. Whitley, shareholder and chair of the White Collar Criminal Defense Practice Group in the Atlanta office of international law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP, who serves as Section Chair for the American Bar Association Section of Administrative Law and Regulatory Practice, will participate in the Section’s Administrative Law Conference. The conference will take place Nov. 7–8 at the Georgetown University Hotel & Conference Center, 3800 Reservoir Rd NW, Washington, DC 20007.
The Administrative Law Conference will address a range of topics related to administrative and regulatory law, including statutory interpretation, the globalization of administrative law, regulatory cooperation in transatlantic trade, regulation and innovation, social media issues, changing controls on commercial speech, and promoting public involvement.
Whitley is a nationally known attorney who focuses his high-profile law practice on white collar criminal matters and regulatory enforcement, international antitrust, U.S. export controls and Foreign Corrupt Practices Act compliance. He assumed the role of Chair of the American Bar Association’s Administrative Law and Regulatory Practice Section earlier this year.
“As chair of the Section, I’m proud the Section is presenting a top-notch roster of subject-matter experts in the area of administrative and regulatory law,” Whitley said. “These fields are changing rapidly amid shifting political priorities and increasing globalization, and it’s critical that practitioners stay up to date so they can continue to provide informed, effective counsel to their clients.”
Whitley served as the first General Counsel to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and was appointed three times as a United States Attorney for the Northern and Middle Districts of Georgia, and had a long and wide-ranging career in the Department of Justice.
