Regenerative Agriculture Products & Services Company, Advancing Eco Agriculture, Discusses New Soil Testing Kit Designed to Help Farmers in Third World Countries
Middefield, OH (PRWEB) November 07, 2013 -- Advancing Eco Agriculture, the leading provider of regenerative agriculture systems, discusses SoilDoc, a new soil testing kit designed to help farmers in third world countries restore and maintain soil quality.
According to an October 16, 2013 article published by Science Daily titled “New Soil Testing Kit for Third World Countries,” researchers at the University of Maryland and Columbia University developed a new soil testing kit, called SoilDoc, designed to help farmers in third world countries through on-the-spot testing. This process could have “a major impact” in improving crop yields.
The article states that the kit contains “battery-operated instruments and safe materials for agricultural extension agents” to handle in the field. They test the availability of active organic matter, nitrogen, phosphorus, sulfur and potassium and measure certain soil physical limitations. The kit’s results are sent by cellular device to a central website where calculations are made and recommendations for soil amendments are delivered back to the extension agent.
This kit is projected to diagnose soil fertility problems and offer vital recommendations to thousands of “smallholder farmers,” farmers who work on less than five acres. Ultimately, the goal is to “significantly increase crop production and food security in Africa.”
John Kempf, Founder and CEO of Advancing Eco Agriculture, the leading provider of regenerative biological agriculture systems, says, “Standard agronomic practices have the tendency to deplete soils of plant available nutrients, resulting in poor soil quality and reduced plant health and crop yields. This soil testing kit can help farmers identify and reverse the soil degradation and crop losses. This can be a valuable tool to help educate farmers in developing countries about soil amendments that can increase crop production and improve soil quality.”
Advancing Eco-Agriculture (AEA) has created models for understanding the soil plant system and how this systems performance can be optimized with plant nutrition supplied at Critical Points of Influence (CPI’s). Our product technologies and consulting services help farmers around the world to grow healthier crops, regenerate soil health and improve farm economics. Our mission is to help farmers produce high quality, healthy, disease and insect resistant and high yielding crops by using a systems based approach to providing complete plant nutrition.
