Dr. Laurence Chaise, a radiologist with Raritan Bay Medical Center and its Center for Women, will be discussing the importance of breast cancer screening and early detection. He will highlight who should be screened and how often. He will also detail the different types of screening methods used and explain the importance each plays in the detection of breast cancer. Dr. Chaise will then provide information on the latest technological advances in breast cancer detection, including tomosynthesis, also known as 3D imaging.
In the second segment, Dr. Boris Volshteyn, a plastic surgeon at Raritan Bay Medical Center, will discuss breast reconstruction. He will explain how breast reconstruction can still be possible for a patient who is undergoing or has undergone chemotherapy or radiation. Dr. Volshteyn will present the different types of reconstruction surgeries that are available, what makes a patient a good candidate for each surgery, possible complications from the surgery and what a patient can expect recovery to be like.
Roy Cooke, Executive Sous Chef at Peter Island, an exclusive private island resort located in the British Virgin Islands, will join us to talk about adding Caribbean flavor to everyday meals. Chef Roy will talk about using typical herbs and spices found in Caribbean cuisine to boost flavor in healthy cooking. He will also provide listeners with a favorite, simple recipe to prepare at home.
