Demmer Corporation Receives Mobilizer Award For Innovative Use Of Canvas Mobile App Platform
Reston, VA and Lansing, MI (PRWEB) November 06, 2013 -- Demmer Corporation today announced it has received a prestigious 2013 Mobilizer Award in the category of ‘Enterprise-Wide Mobility’ for its use of the Canvas mobile app platform to transform its business through improved efficiency of operations, significant cost savings, reduced operational downtime, and enhanced quality control and safety efficiency.
Now in its 12th year, The Mobilizer Awards honor public and private enterprises across all industries - including government - that have transformed their businesses by deploying wireless mobile solutions. Demmer executives received the award at the 2013 Mobile Enterprise Executive Summit, held Nov. 4-6 in Dallas, Texas.
"The themes of the Mobilizer Awards – innovation, measurable ROI and improving operational efficiency – align with the philosophy of President and CEO Bill Demmer, who has focused our organization on lean transformation and eliminating waste in the value stream," said Jen Malesky, Director of Corporate Quality, Demmer Corporation. "We are thrilled that our adoption of the Canvas mobile app platform to reduce paper usage and change the way we operate has been recognized through this award."
Demmer Corporation, a leading U.S. metal fabrication and machining supplier with more than 300 employees serving the defense, aerospace, automotive, transportation and energy industries, operates multiple facilities with an even greater number of manufacturing processes – each one requiring paperwork for inspections, safety and workflow. In 2012, Demmer turned to Canvas’ mobile business app platform to convert these paper-based processes to Canvas apps. Canvas provides a technology platform for Demmer to easily create, connect and collaborate around mobile business apps.
Today, Demmer has 150 Canvas apps deployed and being used on hundreds of iPads and iPhones and for a variety of core business processes and functions, including collecting attribute data, traceability information, internal process audits, and safety and environmental audits. The results have been substantial:
➢ Significant annual cost savings – The use of Canvas mobile apps in place of cost and time-intensive paper-based manual processes has resulted in cost savings for Demmer in upwards of $1 million annually. In fact, one business process alone (machine uptime tool and efficiency log) that was shifted from paper to Canvas mobile apps resulted in a $250,000 cost avoidance.
➢ Improved quality control and safety efficiency – Demmer has benefited from more rapid and efficient quality issues resolution. For example, estimated savings from using Canvas instead of paper audits exceeds 300 hours per year, along with a huge improvement to safety problem resolution due to the rapid response time, which has led to a reduction in workplace injuries.
➢ More efficient use of personnel – Use of Canvas has helped reduce the number of hours required to perform quality audits – down nearly 70% – allowing personnel to be dedicated to other, value added assignments. Canvas’ application for employee training record saves over 100 hours per year in HR tracking along with 12 reams of paper.
"Demmer is a deserving recipient of this award, and it has been amazing to watch Canvas apps go from adoption to addiction within their workforce in a relatively short period of time," said Jason Good, Director, Customer Development. Canvas. "We applaud Demmer for not only successfully deploying Canvas to hundreds of users throughout the organization, but committing to the effort and seeing millions of dollars in cost savings, as well tangible gains in operational efficiency."
