Foundation Financial Group was celebrated during the Disabled American Veterans’ October meeting. Commander Robert W. Young presented a plaque that commemorates the ongoing donations and active volunteer efforts of Foundation Financial.

“We wanted to thank Foundation Financial Group for volunteering with us,” said Vice Commander Buddy Rickman. “At the DAV, we help veterans from every branch of the military, regardless of when and where they served. We survive on donations from the community because the DAV is a 100 percent volunteer organization. Nobody gets paid to help. We just do it.”

Foundation Financial Group has been assisting the DAV with its mission to improve the lives of America’s veterans since 2010. During the past four years, FFG employees have volunteered to help improve the DAV’s Jacksonville headquarters with projects like landscaping the yard, building a lounging area on the patio, and providing updated computer equipment and IT expertise. FFG is coordinating new improvement projects with the Disabled American Veterans that will include replacing door frames and additional building maintenance.

“Giving back to the veterans who have given so much for America feels great,” said Tanya Mauro, who accepted the award on FFG’s behalf. “The DAV works very hard to support our older vets in the community by doing things like mowing lawns for veterans’ widows, bringing care packages to veterans in nursing homes, helping veterans file disability claims, and attending funerals. The DAV tries to find ways to improve the quality of life for all of the men and women who have served our country.”

DAV members will be collecting much-needed donations at Golden Corral restaurants around Jacksonville the week of Veteran’s Day as part of the non-profit’s annual donation drive. Golden Corral locations on Southside Boulevard, Beach Boulevard, Merrill Road, and San Jose Boulevard will welcome the DAV to collect donations from Monday, Nov. 11 until Friday, Nov. 15. The DAV is grateful for every donation and always needs people to volunteer.
