(PRWEB) November 06, 2013 -- Pendleton Woolen Mills, an American apparel and manufacturing company headquartered in Portland, Ore., has added Gretchen Jones to its design team. Jones joins a team of seasoned design veterans at the celebrated American Heritage Brand, and will work primarily on the company’s apparel collections.
A past winner of Project Runway and more recently a 2012 inductee into GenArt's "Fresh Faces in Fashion" alumni, Jones brings a broad spectrum of industry experience and perspective. Jones grew up in Colorado and Oregon and is strongly influenced by her Western roots. Her work is infused with an earthy Americana that draws inspiration from the landscapes of her childhood.
"We’re delighted to have Gretchen join our incredibly talented design team," said Mark Korros, CEO of Pendleton. "Beyond her obvious design talent and real-world experiences, her aesthetic is a good fit with Pendleton’s collections and she will provide a modern perspective to our classic, innovative designs."
Jones has fashion and design in her blood. She designed her own First Communion dress and began creating portfolios in second grade. When she finished school, rather than pursuing formal design education she opted for real-world experience to gain a broader understanding of the fashion industry. She worked as a boutique buyer and manager, wholesale vendor and trade show representative, production and design assistant, and model. After her breakthrough Project Runway win in 2010, she moved to New York to focus on creating her own women’s contemporary ready-to-wear line, which she showed regularly at New York Fashion Week, to critical acclaim.
"Pendleton welcomes Gretchen to our growing family and looks forward to her influence in bringing more casual sportswear to Classic Pendleton and energizing the fashion offerings in our upcoming collections," said Korros.
Jones, a founder of Content, will be attending this year’s live design and fashion installation event on Saturday, Nov. 9, at the Ace Hotel in Portland, Ore.
