St. Mary’s Receives "A" Grade for Hospital Safety
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) November 07, 2013 -- St. Mary’s Medical Center has received an "A" grade for hospital safety, the highest possible, in the Fall 2013 Hospital Safety Score from the Leapfrog Group, which rates how well hospitals protect patients from accidents, errors, injuries and infections.
Leapfrog is a national, non-profit industry watchdog that focuses on measuring and publicly reporting hospital performance by assigning a letter grade of A through F, based on a hospital’s overall capacity to keep patients safe from preventable harm. The score includes 28 safety measures to produce the single letter grade.
"Patient care and safety are our top priorities at St. Mary’s," said St. Mary’s President Anna Cheung. "We emphasize that our doctors, nurses and caregivers work together every day. I consider this an acknowledgement that our medical staff are leaders in providing the best and safest care possible."
Leapfrog’s announcement continued what has been a noteworthy week for St. Mary’s Medical Center. On Oct. 23, the hospital was recognized by HealthGrades as one of America’s 100 best hospitals for stroke care, gastrointestinal care and general surgery.
