Dog-Gone Chipotle Hot Sauce Wins Louisiana Hot Sauce Competition
Fort Myers, Florida (PRWEB) November 08, 2013 -- Dog-Gone Hot Sauce Company was recently awarded Co-Grand Champion during the international Louisiana Hot Sauce Festival. The company’s “Chipotle” flavored hot sauce was competing with more than 100 other sauces spread out from six countries across the globe during the event, in the city that’s been named the “Home of Hot Sauce”, Louisiana.
“This is only the second competition I entered like this in Louisiana and the second trophy my sauces have won,” said Jeff Schmidt, President of the Dog-Gone Sauce Company. “The first sauce to bring home a ribbon was earlier this year, at the Cajun Hot Sauce Contest, when the Pineapple Honey flavor took third place in the fruit-based division. To win Grand Champion with the Chipotle flavor will have me elated for months to come.”
The Louisiana Style Hot Sauce contest was open to any sauce with a base of peppers, vinegar and salt and included some big names in the industry like Tabasco and Crystal. The competition was judged by 17 local hot sauce experts who evaluated the sauces with a point system on many categories, including aroma, flavor and consistency. Schmidt said “I’m hoping this gets the attention of some hot sauce distributors so the huge group of pet lovers in America can get the sauces from the shelves of their local stores.”
The Dog-Gone Sauce Company, based out of Fort Myers Florida, has a gourmet line of BBQ and Hot Sauces that is well-noted for the commitment to donating 100 percent of the company’s profits to animal shelters and rescues.
The company currently offers barbecue sauce flavors such as Smoky Sweet BBQ, as well as three delicious hot sauces: Honey Rum, Chipotle and Pineapple Honey.
About Dog-Gone Sauce Company
Jeff Schmidt created the Dog-gone Sauce Company and line of sauces to bring fun to the sauce world while helping bring awareness to the needs of homeless animals. He combined two passions, making hot sauces and finding a way to donate to shelters and rescue organizations.
The company has partnered with several humane society shelters and local animal rescues where the profits from the company are donated.
“I’ve been very blessed with a career in refrigeration, and I wanted to find a way to help animal rescues with more than I could donate from my income,” Jeff said.
In his spare time, Schmidt works on promoting the sauce and its cause. “There is a lot of travel with my job, so I have time on planes and in hotels to work on the business side of things,” he said, “But, I’ve relied a lot on friends in the sauce industry and playing in the kitchen to create the delicious blends.”
Coming up with clever names for his spokes-dog, Hal Apeno and spokes-cat Cali Ente, along with company phrases like “Give Yourself a Treat” or recipes like “Wiener Dogs in Paradise” are what tie the animal theme to the delicious and savory hot sauces – not to mention, each bottle has its heat level registered on the exclusive “Bark-O-Meter.” The hotter the sauce, the louder the bark.
Dog-Gone Sauce offers an incredible line of gourmet sauces for the most selective taste buds, all made and bottled in the USA with all-natural, highest quality ingredients.
Schmidt said he’s also currently working on the latest addition to his company: Coffee to the Rescue, featuring Decaffeinated and Arabica blends of freshly ground coffee, also donating all profits of the sale to animal and rescue shelters in need, is available in one-pound and five-pound bags. Normally $12.95, you can currently pick up a bag for $9.95 a pound.
“It’s actually cheaper than buying from the big coffee chain you see on every corner, and tastes so much better – especially knowing you’re simultaneously helping a good cause,” Schmidt said.
As the holiday season is fast approaching, any of the Dog-Gone Sauce and Coffee to the Rescue products would make great gifts, available in gift packages assorted bundles – perfect for all pet-lovers and those who enjoy a good hot sauce or cup of coffee.
