American Academy of Pediatrics’ HealthyChildren.org Releases Home Safety Issue of Healthy Children e-Magazine
Chicago, IL (PRWEB) November 07, 2013 -- HealthyChildren.org, the official American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Web site for parents, has released a new issue of Healthy Children e-magazine for smartphones and tablets. The new issue focuses on safety in the home and urges parents to take stock of their surroundings before baby begins crawling or walking.
“More than 3.4 million children experience an unintentional home-related injury each year,” said Jennifer Shu, MD, FAAP, medical editor of HealthyChildren.org and spokesperson for the AAP. “It is our hope that parents, grandparents, and other caregivers will read this issue and take the necessary steps to childproof their entire home, reducing the risk of injury or even death.”
The e-magazine’s feature article, “Your Home: A Safe Place to Live and Play,” provides tips to help parents childproof 4 areas of the home—the kitchen, bathroom, laundry room, and living/family room. Other articles include a first aid primer, a special piece for grandparents to read before inviting grandkids for a visit, and important information about button batteries, magnetic toys, laundry detergent packets, and other potentially ingestible items found in the home.
Apple users may download the free e-magazine on the iOS Newsstand. Android users may access the e-magazine through the HealthyChildren mobile app on Google Play.
The digital magazine is also available as a PDF at HealthyChildren.org/e-magazine.
This issue of Healthy Children e-magazine was made possible through support from Procter & Gamble.
