“Birdman’s diamond Cuban link chain and bracelet set is one of the largest created and others want to top his pieces," said Avianne & Co. President of E-Commerce George Avianne.

World-renowned rapper and Cash Money Records co-founder Birdman recently visited Avianne & Co. custom jewelers to purchase a 26-inch Cuban link chain and 8-inch bracelet for a total price of $175,000. The purchase marks the creation of one of the largest diamond Cuban link pieces ever designed.

Elliot Avianne worked closely with Birdman to produce the industry’s most flooded diamond cuban link chain. Birdman’s latest chain and bracelet selections weigh a total of 1,000 grams and were created using the micro pave setting technique to affix the diamonds into the links. Micro paving places diamonds so closely together they appear to be “kissing each other.” The method is often used on the curve of a piece, just like on a Cuban link chain.

“Those in hip hop who have made names for themselves have always turned to jewelry as a vehicle to not only show their wealth and success, but also to demonstrate a higher level of success by comparing theirs to others’ pieces,” said George Avianne, president of e-Commerce at Avianne & Co. “Birdman’s diamond Cuban link chain and bracelet set is one of the largest created and others want to top his pieces.”

Once a member of the Big Tymers duo, the rapper’s pricey purchases give further proof of the growing and continued popularity of Cuban links. Cuban links gained noticeable popularity in the early 1980s hip-hop scene. Artists such as Birdman ensure that the trend continues with designs that simply get bigger, thicker and more unique and expensive over time.

This summer, SB purchased a 14-karat yellow gold bracelet heavily customized to include a pair of handcrafted Cuban link bracelets attached to a diamond ID, which he wore to the 2013 BET Awards in Los Angeles. Recently, Pauly D selected Avianne & Co. for a Cuban link chain and bracelet, similar to Birdman’s purchase.

Birdman’s splurge shows the relentless urge among the rich and famous to be known for their taste in big-time jewelry.
