He has tried numerous discrimination and other employment cases before federal and state courts, administrative agencies and arbitrators throughout the country.

About James M. Gecker
Prior to joining Katten in 1994, Gecker was a partner in the labor group at Ross & Hardies (later merged with McGuire Woods). He received a B.A. from the University of California at Berkeley, and a Master of Science in Industrial Relations from Loyola University Chicago. He earned his J.D., cum laude from the University of Wisconsin.
Gecker is admitted to practice in Illinois, the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit (1974), Sixth Circuit (1978), Seventh Circuit (1983), Federal Circuit (1990), and Eleventh Circuit (1999), and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois where he is a member of the trial bar. He is a member of the American Bar Association, Labor and Employment Section and Litigation Section.
In addition to his law practice, Gecker has taught a graduate-level course in Human Resources Law at Loyola University Chicago’s Institute of Human Resources and Industrial Relations.
