Award-winning lighting designer Tom Raffield launches new wooden lighting products
Cornwall, England (PRWEB UK) 14 November 2013 -- Award-winning lighting designer Tom Raffield is delighted to announce the addition of a selection of brand new products to his contemporary wooden lighting range.
The Bloom Light features petals of bent wood arranged into a symmetrical shape around the central bulb. It is available in sustainably sourced ash, oak or walnut, or in a combination of oak and walnut, and as either a pendant or floor-standing light.
Tom is also introducing a new, variation of an existing shade with the minimalist Large White Light, also be available in ash, oak and walnut. Made from a single loop of wood, and with a white satin interior, this new purist drum pendant measures 54cm in diameter.
Tom’s business has grown significantly over the past year thanks to investment and dedication. He has built and moved into his new woodland workshop, taken on three additional employees, introduced fresh photography and a state-of-the-art website and brand video as well as revitalising the content of his blog and social media accounts. All this activity has seen the business grow locally and internationally, capturing the attention of interior designers, retailers and consumers.
“Introducing new products to the range feels like the natural next step,” says Tom, “We have already added different sizes of our Butterfly Light and Pendant No 1 to the range following customer feedback but the Bloom Light is the first brand new design of 2013.”
All Tom Raffield lights are expertly crafted by hand in a woodland workshop in Cornwall, England. They are made using sustainably sourced timber and eco-friendly methods.
Having grown up in the wilds of Exmoor and now living and working in rural Cornwall, it’s no surprise that Tom draws inspiration from nature for his lighting and furniture designs - and the Bloom Light is no exception.
Tom explains, “Using the shapes in nature and crafting them in wood are what interests me. As the name suggests, the inspiration for this new light came from the blooming of a flower and the design was all about trying to create something organic and free-flowing like my No 1 Pendant, combined with the symmetry and vibrancy of the Butterfly Light.
“The Bloom Light has a sweep and flow that make it a statement piece. The large petals are made of high quality wood and mask much of the bulb, whilst also cutting through the light to create soft shadows and a warm glow.”
The Bloom Light pendant retails at £325 in all wood types and is available to order now at tomraffield.com/shop - It is also available as a floor standing light.
The new Large White Light offers an ultra-minimalist option for anyone seeking a simple yet beautiful statement drum pendant.
Tom says: “The size of the Large White Light makes it a perfect feature pendant for anyone who loves simplicity. It would look amazing hung alone or in groups in a home, hotel or restaurant environment.
“The satin white interior reflects an intensive white light down and out into the room and the different wood options offer different feels. The oak and walnut shades provide a real contrast between the dark wood exterior and the pure white inside, whilst the ash pendant has a real nautical, seaside feel – like a clinker boat.”
The Large White Light retails at £345 and is available to order now at tomraffield.com/shop
