UNC Kenan-Flagler Ranked Among the World’s Best for Executive MBA Programs
Chapel Hill, N.C. (PRWEB) November 08, 2013 -- Bloomberg Businessweek has rated the Weekend MBA Program at the University of North Carolina Kenan-Flagler Business School as No. 12 among global programs and No. 10 in the United States.
The ranking of the world’s best executive MBA (EMBA) programs is based on surveys of EMBA graduates and program directors. Included in the overall ranking of top programs, the Weekend MBA Program also received:
• No. 9 ranking for student satisfaction for the second time in a row
• Straight A’s for teaching, curriculum and support for the third time in row
• A’s for the teaching of finance, marketing and entrepreneurship for the second time in a row
One of the UNC Kenan-Flagler graduates wrote this to Bloomberg Businessweek: “One thing I loved about UNC's Weekend MBA program was the culture; the sense of camaraderie and dedication to success shared among my classmates, the professors, and the staff. The program was very rigorous and challenging, but was never cutthroat. That's the Carolina way: doing your individual best while working and learning together in one of the nicest places on earth, Chapel Hill.”
U.S. News & World Report ranked the Executive MBA Program No. 9 in March based on surveys of business school deans and directors of accredited MBA programs.
Flexibility and career support are important issues for EMBA students, and UNC Kenan-Flagler announced major initiatives in both areas last spring.
• It redesigned the evening and weekend Executive MBA programs to provide more convenience and new features for the working professionals who attend them. Changes included modifying the schedule to reduce time away from work and travel to campus by using a blend of immersive on-campus courses and networking with technology-enabled modules.
• It increased the focus on leadership and professional development, and hired a full-time director of career and professional development for the Executive MBA Programs. Meena Dorr took on that role in April to support working professionals attending the Evening MBA, Weekend MBA and Global OneMBA® programs. In addition, graduates receive support from the full-time director of alumni career management, Elizabeth Wallencheck.
“This ranking demonstrates that our students and our peers recognize the excellence of our program,” said Jack Evans, interim dean at UNC Kenan-Flagler. “We provide real-world knowledge and skills that students apply immediately to benefit their organizations and continue to use to advance their careers.”
