Chicago Injury Attorneys Comment on Five Car Crash that Sent 11 to Hospital
(PRWEB) November 08, 2013 -- Eleven people were transported to the hospital after a five-car crash last week. Legal resource website Chicago Injury Attorneys says such high injury rates are typical of chain-reaction accidents.
The accident happened in the early morning in the Logan Square neighborhood on the Northwest Side, according to NBC News (10.20.2013). Three moving vehicles and two parked cars were involved in the crash.
“This kind of accident can easily become fatal, even at low speeds,” said Karla Bradford, a spokesperson for Chicago Injury Attorneys, which helps accident victims find a Chicago car accident lawyer. “Once more than two cars are hitting each other, everyone loses control.”
Police say the accident started when one driver attempted a U-turn. That car was rear ended by another vehicle, which was in turn rear ended by a third one. The entire group of colliding cars then struck two parked vehicles.
“When it's dark out, the driver behind you may not realize there's a problem until it's too late,” Bradford said. “It's vital to give extra slowing and stopping distance at night, and to always use turn signals. We see a lot of people who are terribly injured just because someone else couldn't wait to turn.”
All of those injured in the crash were adults and all were in “good” condition despite being taken to the hospital, according to police.
“It's fortunate that the injuries were as minor as they were,” Bradford said. “But these kinds of accidents are preventable and it's important that the person who caused it is identified.”
The driver who made the U-turn will be cited, according to a spokesperson for the police.
