Dolly Parton: Bad Move After Accident
(PRWEB) November 08, 2013 -- Country singer Dolly Parton reassured fans last week that her recent car accident left her unscathed. But legal resource group Dallas Car Accident Lawyers says the announcement was premature, and could come back to haunt her.
Immediately after the accident Parton was rushed to a local hospital, according to Country Weekly (10.29.2013). Fans were left wondering if the singer may have been seriously hurt, and Parton's announcement came as good news to many.
But it also undermines Parton's legal situation, according to Nancy Trimble, a spokesperson for Dallas Car Accident Lawyers, which helps motorists get legal advice after accidents.
“I'm glad Ms. Parton is safe and feeling healthy,” Trimble said. “Unfortunately many car accident injuries don't start to become obvious until weeks after the accident.”
Parton made the announcement only a week after her visit to the hospital, and Trimble says she could still find herself suffering from whiplash.
“Whiplash is a serious condition where the muscles in the neck are torn,” Trimble said. “It starts to manifest as a soreness or stiffness weeks after a car accident. It can become a lifelong source of pain.”
That's why Dallas Car Accident Lawyers advises victims to wait several weeks before saying definitively that they were not hurt.
“If you're on record saying you're fine, then the insurance companies are going to use it against you,” Trimble said. “Even if you later find out you were wrong, and you're coping with this horrible condition, it can be hard to go back and change your story.”
Trimble said there are better ways Parton could have reassured fans.
“She could have told them she's resting and any injuries were minor,” Trimble said. “It's the best way to protect yourself after an accident.”
