There are few causes that touch such a large part of our community so deeply.

Newport News, Va. (PRWEB) November 07, 2013

The first full week of November, celebrated as National Philanthropy Month, the Orthopaedic & Spine Center in Newport News launched its inaugural online social giving campaign in support of the Foodbank of the Virginia Peninsula.

For every new ‘like’ the orthopaedic practice receives on its Facebook page through November 24, it will donate $1 to the Foodbank of the Virginia Peninsula.

“There are few causes that touch such a large part of our community so deeply,” said Jeffrey R. Carlson, M.D., Managing Partner of the Orthopaedic & Spine Center. “We are doing our annual food drive, too, for the Foodbank of the Virginia Peninsula, but we thought this would be a great way to help spread the message of the Foodbank, get us all involved and support the cause to an even greater degree.”

The Foodbank of the Virginia Peninsula is a charitable organization that solicits, receives, inventories, store, and distributes purchased and donated food and grocery products to charitable agencies that directly help the needy.

They serve families in Gloucester, Hampton, James City, Mathews, Newport News, Poquoson, Surry, Williamsburg and York. Since 1986, the Foodbank of the Virginia Peninsula has distributed nearly 150 million pounds of food with more than eight million of that getting distributed last year alone.

The Orthopaedic & Spine Center, located at 250 Nat Turner Boulevard, Newport News, VA, is a full service state-of-the-art orthopaedic practice with twenty four patient exam rooms, three fully equipped x-ray suites with fluoroscopy, a Lunar DPX Bone Densitometer Room, an Open Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Center, and physical therapy services.

Orthopaedic & Spine Center physicians have full staff privileges at Riverside Regional Medical Center and Mary Immaculate Hospitals and active clinical staff privileges at the Peninsula Surgery Center. For more information on the practice and its physicians, visit http://www.osc-ortho.com.
