Lubbock, TX (PRWEB) November 08, 2013

According to the Texas Tech website, in conjunction with the Lone Survivor Foundation, the Military Order of the Purple Heart and Under Armour, Texas Tech University will present the "Lone Survivor Game" on Saturday, Nov. 9, when the Red Raiders take on the Kansas State Wildcats at Jones AT&T Stadium. Based on the harrowing story of former Navy SEAL and fellow Texan, Marcus Luttrell, the Lone Survivor Game will bring national recognition to the Lone Survivor Foundation as well as pay tribute to our nation’s veterans, and the active duty personnel of the United States Military.

Texas Tech also states that in addition to the celebration of the Lone Survivor Foundation, they will host more than 400 Purple Heart recipients and their families from all across the nation. The gathering is expected to be the largest of Purple Heart recipients on American soil in history. These brave men and women will be honored for their service to our nation in a special ceremony that will also feature Tim Kingsbury (father of Kliff Kingsbury) and the late Guffrie Smith (father of head basketball coach Tubby Smith). Kingsbury and Smith were both awarded Purple Hearts while serving in Vietnam and World War II, respectively. Texas Tech will also host Gold Star families from the South Plains as well as guests from Cannon Air Force Base in Clovis, N.M.

The pre-game show will include a patriotic aerial display by Team Fastrax at 10:40am, and will include a 500 sq. ft., 800 sq. ft., and two 2,000 sq. ft. American flags to pay tribute to the Purple Heart recipients. Paratrooper Dana Bowman will be featured in the demo and will be jumping in with one of the 2,000 sq. ft. flags. Dana Bowman is a former member of the US Army’s Golden Knights and is currently a new member to Team Fastrax. Dana is a double amputee, and uses his life experience to work with other amputees and disabled or physically challenged people and is a very talented motivational speaker.

John Hart, owner of Start Skydiving, and founder of Team Fastrax, said, “We are honored to be performing at such an exciting and patriotic event. Our soldiers risk their lives every day to protect the freedoms that we so cherish.”

Team Fastrax is sponsored by Selection.com, a leading provider of criminal background checks and pre-employment screening services. They are the most ambitious professional skydiving team in the world. The team has a roster of more than twenty-nine active members, with a culmination of more than 300,000 skydives. Team Fastrax has performed exhibition skydives all over the world for audiences large and small as a patriotic display or as a product promotion.
