Cars crunched together as a semi-truck rolled through an intersection last week, resulting in a massive 13-vehicle wreck. Denver Car Accident Lawyers, a legal resource, says the accident could easily have been lethal.
The truck approached the intersection hauling a long flatbed trailer around 3:30 p.m. The traffic light was red and the cars in front of it were stopped, but the truck kept going, according to ABC 7 News (10.21.2013).
As the truck hit the cars it forced them forward and continued to move, pushing stopped vehicles into the intersection. The rig then rolled into a utility pole, completely knocking it down, before coming to a rest with smoke pouring from its engine. Four people were injured reported ABC News.
“Accidents involving semi-trucks tend to be the most dangerous,” said a spokesperson for Denver Car Accident Lawyers, whose website helps accident victims find a Denver car accident lawyer. “The driver of a semi is well protected, but any other vehicle can easily be crushed by that much weight.”
The reason the truck didn't stop is unclear, but police say they are investigating whether the driver may have been affected by a medical condition according to ABC 7 News.
ABC 7 News reported that police stated none of the injuries were life-threatening, which one witness described as a “miracle.”
