Core of Education Prepares to Launch First of Five-Part Series Titled "Educational Technology and Dyslexia: Using Tech to Eliminate Needless Suffering"
(PRWEB) November 12, 2013 -- Dr. Rod Berger, host of Core of Education and editor for EdTechReview.in will interview Michael Hart, Ph.D. in the first of a five-part series about how technology has dramatically altered the ways students with dyslexia are treated. Dr. Berger and Dr. Hart will dive into what criteria should guide us when choosing educational technology for students of all ages with these language-based learning problems (i.e., dyslexia).
Dr. Michael Hart, the Principal and Owner of DoctorMichaelHart.com, has special expertise in dyslexia and attention deficit disorders. After 25 years of practice, he now provides online services including consultations, courses and webinars. He blogs regularly and writes for several publications.
In this interview, Dr. Hart cuts to the core of issues facing the one in five students who suffer from some degree of difficulty with developing adequate skills in reading, writing and spelling. He covers the research that clearly shows the difficulty with acquiring reading, writing, and spelling skills is tied to underlying weaknesses in language processing. Finally he chats about how to use that knowledge as a base to make educational technology choices which can be mapped to what we know about cognitive functioning--or how the brain is “wired.”
“Educational Technology has sparked a very specific revolution in the treatment of students with dyslexia.” says Dr. Michael Hart. “Frankly, it goes beyond using technology as a core component to education reform.”
Both men speak to how teachers now have direct access to 40 years of proper remediation research, specific to language-based learning issues (dyslexia). Finally, they discuss the ways technology provides powerful tools for students to leverage their cognitive strengths and bypass their weaknesses in school.
