Generations Federal Credit Union Accepting Applications For 2014 Future Leader Scholarship
San Antonio, TX (PRWEB) November 12, 2013 -- Generations Federal Credit Union is currently accepting applications for their 2014 Future Leader Scholarship program. Future Leader Scholarship applicants can be graduating high school seniors, current undergraduate students, graduate students, doctoral, post-doctoral and/or continuing education, trade school and vocational school students. The scholarships may be used for any education or education-related expenses the student may incur, including books, fees and room and board.
The GFCU scholarship program is designed to recognize students whose activities, be they academic, religious or civic, will better the community and citizenship of San Antonio and its surrounding areas. GFCU will award ten Future Leader Scholarships in the amount of $1,250 each. Although this is the seventh year that GFCU has offered the Future Leader Scholarships, it is the first time the application process will be conducted entirely online.
“With all that life throws at you, from balancing work, school and family, we understand firsthand that it’s not always easy to be a student. When creating the program we really wanted to tailor it around the reality of today’s student,” said Kimberley Blohm, student brand manager. “In all aspects, we wanted the scholarship to be different. From the application process to the essay question to what the scholarship can be used for, nothing about it is traditional.”
Applicants must be a GFCU member, have a current GPA of 3.0 or higher, answer an essay question and submit three letters of recommendation. Applications are due no later than 5 p.m. on Friday, February 28, 2014. Credit Union membership is available to anyone who lives, works, worships, volunteers or attends school in Bexar County.
