Garmin Edge Touring is a new touch screen, full color display bike computer from Garmin that can provide turn-by-turn directions for touring cyclists and mountain bikers according to the Heart Rate Watch Company.
"We are excited to get these in stock," says Rusty Squire, President of the Heart Rate Watch Company. "They are the world's first bike computer for under $300 that will do turn-by-turn directions just like a car GPS with Garmin quality maps."
MOUNTAIN BIKING AND TRAILS
"A lot of trail systems show up on the Edge Touring which makes them great for mountain biking and off road riding," says Squire. He adds, "Where they shine is for Touring with a Garmin SD card - tour North America, Europe, or anywhere."
"The Edge Touring Plus will even pick up an optional heart rate monitor to pick up heart rate data," says Squire. He adds, "These bike computers are built on the Edge 810 platform they just don't deliver cadence but you will receive real-time distance, pace or heart rate plus full navigation."
Considering that the Garmin Edge 810 is $200 to $400 more this bike computer makes a great option for cyclists that are more into riding than racing. "It's not a racers bike computer like the Garmin Edge 510 is but that is only about a few percentage points of the total cycling population, so this is for everyone else," says Squire.
Edge Touring Plus also has the ability to add other Garmin maps that are country specific because it has a micro-SD card data port. "This means you can add Garmin Topo maps for mountain biking or any other of a number of Garmin's country specific mapping cards," says Squire.
"This is the best touring and off-road cycling computer ever made and it is the only one with full color maps and turn-by-turn directions that will last 16 hours or more at one second recording intervals," says Squire. He adds, "The post ride map detail is brilliant and you can navigate right to any of up to 200 waypoints."
