A' Design Award and Competitions are proud to see that the work UM Salon by Four Lau, Sam Sum, Twiggy Yau and Francis Wong has won the renowned Silver A' Design Award in Interior Space and Exhibition Design Category among thousands of designs.
Details of UM Salon
The winning project UM Salon demonstrates the idea of using scissors as inspiration for endless creativity of the stylist, and also the artistic achievements of the hair being reformed by the hair stylist. Scissors are no longer only to be used as to trim hair; they can also represent the embodiment of the visual aesthetics elements. The endless changing patterns of the scissors have become the focus of the project; the space is filled with artistic, elegant, and delicate fascination by the virtual and actual scissors.

The Silver A' Design Award
The Silver A' Design Award is a prestigious award given to top 5% percentile designs that has exhibited an exemplary level of excellence in design. The designs are judged by a panel of three different jury which is composed of Academic, Professional and Focus Group Members. The designs are evaluated with score normalization to remove any biases and are voted on aspects such as functionality, ergonomics, engineering, presentation, innovation, usability, fun details, technology, and any other specific points that could be considered, each of these points are further weighted for different jury groups.
