At a time when government employees are experiencing furloughs, lowered wages and other financial woes resulting from budget reductions and government shutdowns, a new website has launched to help them spend less and save more. is committed to helping members of the military, veterans, civil service employees, and Department of Defense Contractors by offering deals and discounts from local, regional and national businesses.

Gov-Savings initially launched in September of 2012, however the fledgling site was unable to handle the unexpected and overwhelming responses from both government employee subscribers and potential businesses. Founder and CEO Royce Dennis returned to the drawing board and worked to rebuild the site to provide better accessibility and a more comprehensive offering of savings and promotions. has been upgraded to include new features and enhancements, including:

  •     Events Calendar: The site also includes a comprehensive events calendar that features details on special events presented by various merchants and non-profit organizations.
  •     Merchant Directory: Businesses and service providers can take advantage of a free listing in the searchable directory.
  •     Exclusive Merchant Discount Program: Merchants participating in this program can offer coupons, daily deals, and other exclusive savings to the site’s paid subscribers.

Gov-Savings starts its initial roll out in Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C. These key areas boast the highest concentration and largest numbers of local, state and federal employees. The government workforce offers a large population established, middle- to upper-income consumers, which represents a highly-desirable market for many advertisers.

Gov-Savings targets over 52 million employees in the US, including current and retired federal, state and local government employees as well as military personnel and contractors. According to the US Census Bureau, the pay to those employees in March 2010 amounted to more than $70 billion.

Gov-Savings has an aggressive rollout plan and plans to penetrate the entire U.S. within three years. The company will continue to expand its savings product offerings by offering their services to niche businesses and organizations that are interested in promoting their products and services to 52 million active and retired government and military employees.
