LEGOLAND® Discovery Center Launches Voting to Choose Which Boston Landmarks Will be Built and Displayed in Popular MINILAND® Attraction
Somerville, MA (PRWEB) November 12, 2013 -- Fenway Park or Faneuil Hall? Harvard Yard or Prospect Hill? Boston Common or Old Ironsides? LEGOLAND® Discovery Center Boston is leaving it up to you to determine which area landmarks will comprise its distinctive MINILAND® when the attraction opens in May at Assembly Row in Somerville.
Beginning today and running through Nov. 22, fans can vote via the LEGOLAND Discovery Center Boston Facebook page to choose which local landmarks should receive the LEGO® treatment. The top 10 landmarks will be announced on Dec. 2, and fans will then vote for the top landmark. The winning landmark will be announced Dec. 16, and will be unveiled in the spring prior to the grand opening of LEGOLAND Discovery Center.
MINILAND is the most distinctive part of every LEGOLAND Discovery Center because it is unique to the area where the attraction is located. MINILAND at LEGOLAND Discovery Center Boston will feature a miniature landscape of area buildings, attractions and other significant sites.
“Just when you thought voting was over in the city, we’re asking local LEGO fans to nominate and vote for their favorite landmarks,” said Kelly Smith, Marketing Manager for LEGOLAND Discovery Center Boston. “We want MINILAND to represent the places we love the most about this area, and what better way than to have the people who live, work and play here help us decide which landmarks should be included.”
Scheduled to open in May 2014, LEGOLAND Discovery Center Boston will be the first and only one in New England.
The 44,000-square-foot indoor attraction, geared toward children aged 3 to 10 and their families, will feature millions of LEGO® bricks and will offer a fun, highly interactive and educational two- to three-hour indoor experience. The attraction will feature interactive LEGO experiences, LEGO® Rides, LEGO® Studios 4D Cinema, LEGO® MINILAND featuring replicas of Boston landmarks made out of LEGO bricks, LEGO® Factory Tour and birthday rooms.
