Rock 'n Roll Marathon San Antonio and ATRS Get Ready to Rock, Run and Recycle on Sunday November, 17, 2013
San Antonio, TX (PRWEB) November 11, 2013 -- Participants at the Rock ‘n Roll Marathon San Antonio in San Antonio, TX now have one more way to celebrate America Recycles Day when they hit the streets early on Sunday morning, November 17, 2013.
Race participants are encouraged to bring a bag of running gear and shoes to the Start Line in downtown San Antonio on Commerce Street and Cherry Street for recycling. Distinctive ATRS trucks and volunteers in bright green tees will collect unused apples, bananas, packaged oatmeal bars, pretzels and other perishables from the Finish Line, and deliver them to The Center on Independent Living (COIL) in San Antonio. Any unused event tees and medals will be recycled with the proceeds to benefit COIL’s local programs and services for local military families, residents with disabilities and retirees.
San Antonio residents can recycle unwanted clothes, shoes, toys and household textiles to support COIL all year round simply by calling the 24-Hour Hotline with your address or zip code at 1-866-900-9308.
“It’s an honor for us to volunteer at these events,” says Todd Norris, Market Manager for ATRS Central Texas. “Our partnership with The Competitor Group keeps textiles out of San Antonio landfills, helps our local charities and does something great for the planet. This is our way of taking the pledge to support community recycling on America Recycles Day.”
