Dr. Rod Berger, host of Core of Education speaks with Dr. Gary Thompson about the Common Core Standards debate and parental rights in this new interview. Dr. Thompson discusses the growing community of concerned parents who struggle to understand how children with Individualized Education Program's (IEP's) benefit from this new set of standards. Both men dive into the IEP debate, which is growing as many around the country engage in dialogue about the Common Core Standards (CCS) and ways to improve implementation.

Dr. Thompson is the Director of Clinical Training & Community Advocacy at Early Life Child Psychological Services, Inc. He has been a guest on Glenn Beck’s program and has been cited by a number of advocacy groups around the U.S. He recently testified at a committee hearing in Wisconsin about implementing CCS to much controversy.

Early Life Child Psychological Services, Inc., is a Utah based child psychology, education, and special education legal clinic. They provide psychological assessments for the diagnosis and treatment of disorders that affect the emotional, intellectual, and academic progress of children and teens. Their clinicians and educators craft treatment plans and in-home tutoring programs based upon a child’s individual assessment results, leading to a course of action that best fits his or her specific needs.
