EarthCam Premieres Commemorative Time-Lapse Movie for the Opening of 4 World Trade Center
New York (PRWEB) November 12, 2013 -- Boasting the tallest building in the United States and now the most advanced office building of the 21st century, the World Trade Center site will take the spotlight tomorrow with the opening of 4 World Trade Center. EarthCam, the innovators in construction camera technology, are premiering their commemorative time-lapse movie for the special event.
The new time-lapse showcases progress for this architecturally impressive tower from August 2009 to November 2013. Over the past 41 months, EarthCam’s MegapixelCam Robotic and GigapixelCam construction cameras documented and archived the building of this important part of New York with more than 250,000 high resolution megapixel images for a complete historic record of the construction process. In addition, the GigapixelCam generated a 1 billion pixel panorama finale of the entire project site for a one-of-a-kind look at the progress. EarthCam’s MegapixelCam across the Hudson River in Liberty State Park offers an all-encompassing view of the evolving city skyline and an interesting perspective of the rising tower. EarthCam’s Creative Team combed over the extensive library of images and hand-edited them into an inspiring time-lapse movie. Viewers are able to watch as 72 floors rise up 978 feet in just 2 minutes.
Designed by Pritzker-winning architect, Fumihiko Maki, 4 World Trade Center is located in the heart of downtown Manhattan and will offer direct access to almost every city subway and some of the best restaurants and shops in New York. The high-tech, green building incorporates unique features to maximize natural light and delivers spectacular views of the surrounding cityscape.
EarthCam has been on site since 2001, when EarthCam CEO & Founder, Brian Cury, installed a webcam to assist with search and rescue efforts 10 days after the attacks on September 11th. Permanent cameras are now installed at the Millenium Hilton, dedicated partner in this historic documentation project. This latest time-lapse movie commemorates the dedication by many involved in rebuilding lower New York City.
