Written.com offers a new approach for brands conducting content marketing programs aimed at building a highly-engaged, highly-loyal audience.

Written.com, the audience development platform for content marketing, today announced that it has raised a $1M seed round led by LiveOak Venture Partners and FLOODGATE, and including a number of angel investors. The funding will be used to expand business development efforts and further build their blogger network of proven high-engagement content.

Written.com helps companies and brands engage authentically with their audiences by licensing top-performing content from bloggers. Though brands are increasingly allocating larger percentages of their overall marketing budgets to content development, and establishing content marketing as a core part of their marketing mix, the majority of marketers still consider efforts ineffective across nearly all social channels.

Written.com offers a new approach for brands conducting content marketing programs aimed at building a highly-engaged, highly-loyal audience. The company works closely with brands to identify and analyze their desired audience, and then curates existing online content with the same audience and licenses it for use in the brand’s owned media channels. Written.com also manages the brand/blogger relationship and helps brands to integrate the content into their existing marketing platform. The content that Written.com licenses drives an instantly engaged audience, access to influencers, and social lift to brands.

“Written.com takes the guesswork out of content marketing,” said Josh Kerr, CEO of Written.com. “Traditionally, content marketers create content, publish it, invest in promotion, and then try to engage readers and generate social lift. But engaged users and great content already exist. We flip the old content marketing model by starting with content that already attracts an engaged audience, and then activating it within a brand’s owned media channels.”

Bloggers who participate on Written.com’s platform can benefit from increased Google Author Rank, increased exposure, and improved monetization. They are able to repurpose content that is idling in their archives, earn a steady income from their existing work, and build authentic partnerships with top brands."

Written.com stands out with a refreshingly different take in a crowded market, solving marketers’ most pressing problem by helping deliver a proven, engaged audience to their brand,” said Krishna Srinivasan, General Partner with LiveOak Ventures Partners. “We’re already seeing their strategy prove itself effective for both brands and bloggers, and we’re excited to be working with this experienced team and being a part of their growth.”

Written.com provides a variety of marketing and audience engagement options for brands to choose from including content licensing, content syndication, and sponsored content.
