Interdean Highlights the Need for Greater Healthcare Knowledge Amongst Expats
(PRWEB UK) 14 November 2013 -- Despite this, it was reported in wsanb.co.uk that 20% of UK expats felt that “comprehensive guidance” on local healthcare was vital when moving overseas. The research from Expacare also found that 26% of business travellers could see themselves returning to the UK and quitting their job if they were unlucky enough to suffer ill health abroad. One particularly concerning find was that 14% of employees falsely believed their travel insurance policy would provide a sufficient level of health cover for an overseas business placement. Just over a third also claimed to be confused over what cover was required of them before making their move into an overseas job.
Expacare Managing Director Beverly Cook described the results of the study as “worrying,” explaining that it is not wise for workers to depend on travel insurance to cover medical needs when working overseas.
Providing international removals for more than 50 years, Interdean are also well-known for regularly providing their readers with tips and advice for a smooth moving process. Reacting to the recent research a representative from the firm had this to say on the matter:
“It is really important to do the necessary research beforehand about the health systems where you are headed. Well in advance of leaving the country, ensure you have comprehensive insurance in place. It is also advisable to seek your new employment’s policies regarding issues such as sick pay.”
