Entrants get to win a 100-day Dream Trip that they create themselves. This is the prize being offered in a travel sweepstakes contest by Free & Easy Traveler, a Canadian adventure travel company. The concept of the sweepstakes is that users get to use a trip builder to mix and match the company’s various international adventures to put together their dream trip that spans 100-days, and then they have the chance of that dream coming true. The adventures range from adventure trips to Central and South America to the Mediterranean in Europe to virtually all of Southeast Asia and even ski trips to Japan.
The contest, dubbed the ‘#100DayGiveaway’ and launched in late-September, has gotten eager travellers excited around the world. Over 10,000 people have created a dream trip and Free & Easy’s social media pages are seeing a huge influx of traffic and growth. Their Twitter followers have doubled, their YouTube subscribers have tripled, their Instagram page has grown by over 2000 followers and their Facebook page has seen an increase of 18, 000 Likes.
“The focus for us is on Facebook,” says Free & Easy’s head of operations Rob Campbell, “we still see it as far and above the most important way to reach out to and connect with our market. We’ll be choosing a winner once we hit 100,000 likes on Facebook, so the contest has always been directly associated with our Facebook fan page, but to see the connections we’re making with people across the social media world is a nice bonus.”
Having just reached 90, 000 Likes on Facebook, the conclusion of the #100DayGiveaway is not far off and one lucky traveler will be living out their dream trip with Free & Easy Traveler. The total prize, which includes an overseas flight, is valued at over $12,000.
“This is the biggest prize we have ever given,” says Campbell, “but we just thought back on when we were young travelers and what our dream trip was and taking off for 20 or even 40 days was always a little too short. 100-days is such a great length of time to get away from it all and really lose yourself in travel and experience the benefits of it. If we’re going to sell the idea of a dream trip, we want to provide a trip that lives up to that expectation and we know that our 100-day trips will.”
With the choice of 20 different adventures and 60 unique trip combinations, it may be a tough decision choosing between one dream trip and another. But no matter which combination of trips people choose, the prospect of winning a 100-day travel vacation has many people getting their name in the hat as many times as they can before Free & Easy reaches 100,000 Likes on Facebook and the winner is chosen.
