Bellucci Premium makes a statement about a recent crime involving eight stolen pallets of olive oil.

According to The Olive Oil Times article published on November 10th titled “800 Gallons Of Stolen Olive Oil Recovered By Spanish Authorities,” the robbery of eight palates of olive oil in the city of Castuera, Spain was reported on October 31st. An estimated $22,000 in merchandise was stolen from the olive oil mill.

The authorities pulled over a stolen vehicle and the occupants fled the vehicle when prompted for identification, said the article. Although the occupants of the vehicle have not been found, some of the missing merchandise was recovered. The van contained a few boxes of olive oil, diesel fuel and tires.

The article states how immediately after the vehicle was discovered, the authorities went to the mill and discovered that it had been broken into. The security cameras in the mill were destroyed. Tools and olive oil were among the items missing.

This was not the first time that the Spanish mill has been broken into, according to the article. 2,600 gallons of olive oil were stolen 3 years ago. It is suspected that those involved in the crime are a part of a gang based in Madrid.

Natalie Sexenian, marketing manager for Bellucci Premium, hopes to see those involved in the crime apprehended and brought to justice. “It’s great to see that this type of behavior is not being tolerated. In most cases, stolen olive oil is mixed with cheaper oils and labeled as an authentic product,” she says. “We hope that Spanish authorities can get to the bottom of this case.”

Bellucci offers three different types of oil, including an organic option, with a mild peppery flavor and fruity undertones that will satisfy any palate. Bellucci Premium Toscano extra virgin olive oil uses olives that are grown on the beautiful landscapes of Tuscany, and maintained by 3rd and 4th generation farmers. The third type of oil Bellucci produces is the finest 100% Italian extra virgin olive oil, grown in many different regions of Italy.
