Moving from Treatment to Management: MassDevice Focuses On Chronic Diseases and the Future Business Model of Med-tech at the 2013 Big 100 West

The event, which will be held at the Hyatt Regency Irvine, Calif., on December 10, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. EST, will focus on how medical device makers will change the future of treating chronic diseases, as well as the opportunities for businesses to solve those problems. The event welcomes an incredible panel of industry leaders and executives, each of whom has left their own important mark on the medical device industry.
Featured speakers include:
• Rick Altinger, CEO of Glooko. Mr. Altinger previously worked at Intuit, where he led the creation of the patient portal system; served as Executive Vice President at AdvancedMD, and was also an early employee at Healtheon/WebMD where he served as Vice President of Business Development.
• Mark Carlson, Chief Medical Officer of St. Jude Medical. Carlson has chaired several policy committees and conferences sponsored by the Heart Rhythm Society and the FDA, as well as a task force that developed policy recommendations on pacemaker and ICD performance and industry communications.
• Michael Farrell, CEO of ResMed. Farrell has served as the Company’s president – Americas since May 2011. He was previously senior vice president, strategic business unit – sleep from July 2007 to May 2011, and before that role he was vice president, marketing for the Americas from June 2005 through July 2007, and vice president, business development.
• Dr. Robert Greenberg, CEO and Founder of Second sight, the creator of the world’s first bionic eye. Dr. Greenberg has worked in the field of retinal prosthetics for over twenty years. From 1991 to 1997, Dr. Greenberg conducted pre-clinical and clinical trials demonstrating the feasibility of retinal electrical stimulation to elicit visual perceptions. From 1997 to 1998, he served as a medical officer and lead reviewer for IDEs and 510(k)s at the Office of Device Evaluation at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in the Neurological Devices Division.
Panel discussions with all the CEOs in attendance will be moderated by MassDevice publisher Brian Johnson and David Gollaher, President and CEO of the California Healthcare Institute.
