Evergreen Gets a Boost From Manulife Financial With Increased Support
Toronto, ON (PRWEB) November 13, 2013 -- Evergreen, a not-for-profit organization that makes cities more livable across Canada by deepening the connection between people and nature, announces a significant, multiyear partnership with Manulife Financial to strengthen and expand Evergreen’s innovative volunteer programme.
As Evergreen’s lead volunteer partner, Manulife Financial will sponsor Evergreen with $450,000 over the next three years. This sponsorship will assist Evergreen in offering richer volunteer opportunities that make cities greener which is crucial to urban livability.
"Our partnership will allow Evergreen to expand its national volunteer program across 11 major cities in Canada," says Nicole Boivin, Senior Vice President and Chief Branding & Communications Officer at Manulife Financial. "This will give many more Canadians the opportunity to give back to their communities and the environment, and will enable Manulife employees to play a leading role in the communities where we live and work."
Last year alone, over 9,000 volunteers pledged their time to Evergreen and gave 38,000 hours to make Canadian cities more sustainable. With Manulife’s support, even more volunteers will be able to benefit from better training and support.
"Our committed volunteers transform urban landscapes, enable local action for all to enjoy nature in cities, and inspire others to get involved," says Evergreen CEO Geoff Cape. "Volunteers are at the core of everything we do at Evergreen and, as Manulife Financial’s signature cause, we’re thrilled to have them as our National Volunteer Partner."
Manulife Financial’s support, coupled with the dedication and motivation of Evergreen’s volunteer network, will result in many more active volunteers taking part in key roles across the country while also providing Manulife Financial’s employees and stakeholders with opportunities to play a leading role in the communities where they live and work. Highlighting the depth of the partnership, Manulife also commits time and expertise to Evergreen to work together to deepen community connections and address Canada’s environmental challenges in our cities.
Evergreen is always looking to get more people engaged to give back to their communities and the environment. For more information, visit info.evergreen.ca/en/get-involved.
