Nimbix Introduces New HPC Cloud Platform

The world’s first cloud platform for heterogeneous hardware and high performance computing application environments

Nimbix, Inc. today announced its next generation cloud platform, ushering in a new era of heterogeneous cloud computing. Called JARVICE, the platform enables users and developers to benefit from high performance cloud hardware to create Nimbix Application Environments (NAEs) for high throughput batch processing.

The new Platform-as-a-Service offering is the first of its kind, which blends elements of traditional cloud computing with HPC to deliver a scalable solution to users demanding more performance and better economics from cloud. With JARVICE, customers get bare-metal performance with cloud machines that contain more than CPU cores and memory. The platform includes the availability of widely used acceleration hardware such as the latest NVIDIA® GPUs, Intel® Xeon Phi™ coprocessors, Texas Instruments™ DSPs, and FPGAs.

“Platform-as-a-service can effectively cater to the needs of both developers and researchers, but only if it’s optimized for accelerated HPC applications,” said Nimbix CTO, Leo Reiter. “JARVICE delivers without the cost and complexity of traditional commodity cloud infrastructure, and without the limited application coverage of typical HPC Software-as-a-service providers“.

Application Environments for HPC

Unlike other HPC cloud services, JARVICE enables users to create secure, custom application environments. Once the environments are deployed to JARVICE, runtimes can be executed in the Nimbix Accelerated Compute Cloud (NACC) with a simple API call and scaled across many machines. JARVICE also facilitates frequent updates and version control as part of the platform service.

JARVICE allows us to host applications tuned across a wide variety of accelerated platforms and supports the turnaround we require to provide frequent enhancements.”

Cloud Platform for HPC Software Vendors

The Nimbix Accelerated Compute Cloud, powered by JARVICE, brings point and click cloud capability to the most demanding HPC software applications. Application providers can harness the power and scale of the Nimbix cloud using high speed Infiniband interconnect, integrated license management and simple processing API to deliver the performance, flexibility and ease-of-use expected by customers.
